This authentic Ming Dynasty garden is the first type of garden to be built either inside or outside of china since 1492. Rocks, wood, plants and water are used with deceptive simplicity, but gradually contrasts are revealed. Windows frame courtyards, indicate the carvings, or a rock whose heavily textured surface changes with the play of light. Most of the materials were imported from Suzhou, China's famous garden city.

Each plant, rock and piece of architecture in Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese's Garden of Vancouver, is selected for its symbolic meaning and mood. In the heart of Vancouver Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Garden offers a unique cultural experience.

The Vancouver Aquarium

  • 845 Avison Way
    Vancouver, British Columbia V6G 3E2
    Canada

The Vancouver Aquarium Marine Science Centre is located just five minutes west of downtown Vancouver at 845 Avison Way in Stanley Park. Inside the Vancouver aquarium is everything from Arctic to the Amazon waits for you. The aquarium is Canada's largest and one of the best in North America. With more than 8000 species of aquatic life, almost 600 species from the world's seas and oceans, the aquarium is also an important educational and research facility and provides tours, talk, film and field trips.

The beluga and killer whale presentations which are held in the $14 million marine mammal area is a highlight of the aquarium. Small bays, beaches and rubbing rocks around the pool closely replicate the beluga and killer whales' natural environment.

The Pacific Northwest Habitat offers a close look at the inhabitants of local waters, from playful sea otters to gliding octopuses. Fish, reptiles, birds, insects and plants thrive in the tropical humidity, created partly by computer-generated tropical rainstorms. The creatures in the gallery are amazing- four eyed fish, scarlet ibises, anacondas, and fluorescent fish.

The Arctic Canada exhibition allows visitors to hear the language of the whale and seals that live in the cold blue water beneath the ice.
